Munich Philosophical Masterclass
Zu den Münchner Philosophischen Meisterkursen lädt die Fachschaft Philosophie international bedeutende Philosophinnen und Philosophen nach München ein, um mit ihnen an mehreren Tagen über ein zentrales philosophisches Thema aus ihrem Werk gemeinsam zu diskutieren. Die Studierenden der LMU bestimmen dabei selbst, wer als Gast eingeladen werden soll. Zu jedem Thema bilden sich thematische Arbeitsgruppen, die von fortgeschrittenen Studierenden und Promovierenden geleitet werden.
Künftige Meisterkurse sind von eurem Engagement abhängig. Wenn ihr Ideen habt, wer als nächste Meisterin oder als nächster Meister eingeladen werden soll, oder ihr beim Meisterkurs mithelfen möchtet, dann meldet euch bei der Fachschaft Philosophie.

Real Men on Top: How Patriarchy Shapes Our Reality!
Fachschaft Philosophie announces the 15th Munich Philosophical Masterclass with Associate Professor Robin Dembroff. This Masterclass aims to bring together students and an internationally renowned philosophers in order to discuss their forthcoming work, “Real Men on Top: How Patriarchy Shapes Our Reality!”, with them. If you are interested in discussing Dembroff´s work on feminist philosophy and queer theory focusing on gender and associated topics centering social ontological and epistemological aspects, please apply with a letter of motivation. We very much welcome applications from students at any university and related disciplines both from graduate, including doctoral, and undergraduate students. Please, however, note that, for administrative reasons, we will have to admit philosophy students at the University of Munich with some preference.
The letter of motivation should state why you are interested in participating or how you have already engaged with queer philosophy or with Dembroff's work in particular (which is not a prerequisite to have done so). It should not exceed 500 words. Please include general information about your philosophical background, including your university, what you expect of the course and if you are comfortable your pronouns. Please send your application to philosophischer-meisterkurs@lrz.uni-muenchen.de by April 06, 2025 (CEST). Please note, that the course will be held in person. We will let you know about the outcome by April 20. In order to prepare for the masterclass, participants are expected to attend a weekly preparatory seminar that will take place on Thursdays, from April 23rd to June 27th. The masterclass will be held in English, the preparatory seminar will be held in German.
